Tips for COMEDY CD workshops. 1. Look up when you deliver your lines. 2. Be specific and precise...stress the "Outer Limits" of the emotional. 3. Throw away at least one line per page. 4. Funny lines should be quick and staccato and clear. 5. Set up lines should be even and easily understandable. 6. Smugness is "in" right now. Neurotic is always in. Quirky is always in. 7. If the audience laughs, wait for the laughs to subside...stay in character while you wait. 8. IF laughs cover your line, stay in character and repeat the line as if the person you were speaking to did not hear it the first time. 9. In general, in comedy, lines should go "up" at the end of each line. This should not affect your naturalness. 10. It's good to exaggerate...even dry humor uses exaggerations. 11. DON'T SCREW UP YOUR FACE A LOT. 12. Use the elements of speech. Louder and softer. Higher and lower (pitch), faster and slower. 13. Don't try to replace real feelings and emotions with indications of feelings and emotions. Just be real, have fun and allow yourself into your read. 14. Just be you, and just say the words. For those that are confirmed, I'll see you Sunday. IF you don't know, e-mail me and I'll check my list. JP Thank you for visiting the actorsite.
