Keith Wolfe Letters

Letters

Dear Caryn,

Greetings,
I am another actor in this big monster city called LA, My name is Bashar and I came to LA in May of 98.

As many actors do, I purchased many books and guides as soon as I moved last year, and from going through all the books and adds and other publishings, I -of course- lost lots of money on FAKE businesses that claimed to HELP the LITTLE ACTOR, Except my experience with mr. Wolfe.

I called Mr. Wolfe and arranged an interview with him, then a week later I met him in his Office, then we talked about many issues regarding my acting career and his services, BUT he never Promised me any Acting Job, nor he promised me to sign with an agent. he didn't even force any bit of pressure on me to use his service.

Less than 2 weeks after the interview with him, he called me to tell me that I have an interview with an agent, which I signed with in less than 2 weeks.

SO YES, MR. WOLFE DID HELP ME to find an agent at NO COST.

I say this and GOD is my witness, that I am not related to Mr. Wolfe in anyway other than his Help to me as an Actor, NOR getting any kind of Compensation to say and write this, but it's the LEAST I can do to return the favor.

In a year of being with this agent, I booked 3 Commercials, 1 Print, and 3 Voice Overs.

As we all know, Results will always vary, and Mr. Wolfe never promised me to find me an agent nor get me an acting job. but I just hated it when I saw that he was judged depending on an Unsucessful Experience.

But you know Caryn, I really liked your site and since it is a site visited by several people from the industry, I want to say this thing about US-ACTORS; since I moved here to LA, I've seen many many ACTORS that really expect OTHERS to do the homework for them, and if they don't, then those OTHERS are as bad as those FAKE business I mentioned earlier. yes there are many FAKE promises in this town, but Mr. Wolfe DID NOT promise anything.

You guys, like Caryn said, RESEARCH before you go to see or meet anybody, which I did before meeting Mr. Wolfe, but not a single negative remark.

Anyway, I talked alot here-as usual-heh

If I can be at any help to you Caryn, or any Actor or Actress, please email me at audition@earthlink.net

Sincerely,
The little actor
BASHAR

Re: The consulting services of Keith Wolfe

Dear Caryn:

In response to your statement "I also encourage anyone else who hascomments to mail them to me, and I will see that they get published," Iam requesting that youprint my letter on your website regarding the consulting services of Keith Wolfe

My name is Margaret Swalve. I am the widow of Darwyn Swalve who passed away May 5, 1999. Darwyn's credits, as listed in his testimonial given to Keith Wolfe, arereal. Keith was a guiding force throughout Dar's career and he spoke at
Darwyn's funeral.

Darwyn was having trouble finding an agent. In 1984 he was introduced to Keith Wolfe by
Stephen Elliott, who Keith had helped find representation. Keith helped Darwyn find an agent and three weeks later Darwyn was co-starring with
Ben Vereen in the feature film "Zoo Gang" directed by John Watson. This was the beginning of a long and successful career for Darwyn and a long lasting relationship with Keith Wolfe.

Dar went on to do a lead role in the feature film "Open House" starring Adrian Barbeau and Joseph Bottoms, directed by Jag Mundra. He did a lead role in "Martial Marshall" directed by Ron Curren. He co-starred in
"Hands of Steel." He also co-starred in "The Game" directed by Cole McKay, starring Joseph Campanella. He worked six weeks in a principle role on "Police Academy Six" directed by Peter Bonner.

Some of Darwyn's other credits include "City Heat" with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds and "Heartbreak Ridge" with Clint Eastwood, "Barton Fink" directed by Joel and Ethan Cohen and "Summer School" with Mark Harmon" directed by Carl Reiner. These were SAG principal roles.

Darwyn's television credits include "Moonlighting" with Bruce Willis, "The A-Team" and "Jake And The Fat Man." All Principal roles.

Darwyn had always wanted to work with director John Frankenheimer. With Keith's help, he worked in "Dead Bang" starring Don Johnson which was directed by John Frankenheimer.

Darwyn began in community theater and his dream was to be in a Broadway play. When Darwyn's agent passed away he needed new representation. He asked Keith to find him an agent who had contacts with Broadway shows. Keith placed Darwyn with actor-turned-agent, Morgan Paul, who had contacts in the theater, as well as films. Darwyn's dream of being in a Broadway show was realized when he landed a role in
the award winning Broadway show, "City of Angels." He played six months at the Shubert Theater in Century City and toured for one year with the
show.

This is a partial list of Darwyn's credits. Darwyn also did commercials including one for Ford Mustang with Katherine Zeta-Jones and he had just finished a project for Nickelodeon, "The Journey of Allen Strange," a few weeks before he passed away. I hope this letter puts to rest any questions about Keith Wolfe's consulting service. Darwyn always praised
Keith for the help he gave his career and as a friend who cared about him.

I have known Keith Wolfe for many years. I have found him to be an honest, hard working person who cares about the people he works with.

Best Regards.

Margaret Swalve

Hi Caryn:

From your home page, I gather there seems to be some question about the casting director/careerconsultant, Keith Wolfe. Maybe it would be helpful for you to know my experience with him. I had been looking for an agent, so I bought the publication, "The Right Agent." I read all of Keith's suggestions and ideas and found them to be very useful in my pursuit. But he also invites anyone reading the book to contact him, send a photo and come in for a reading. Now I figured that there must be some sort of catch, that no one in their right mind would dare make an offer like that in this town. But there was his address, phone number and e-mail address. So I called, and MUCH to my surprise, he returned my call. We set up an appointment and I went in and read. Still knowing there had to be some sort of "hook" or catch in this man's madness, I went in with arms crossed and ready to be pressured into some "deal." Keith simply introduced himself, related his qualifications, explained what he could and could not do for a person in a matter-of-fact manner. He never tried to hide anything or represent himself as something that he wasn't. Since that day, Keith and I have developed a working relationship that enabled me to benefit from his services. Again, I went into this unsure. But he immediately had me in for agent auditions and posted my photos on his web page. The agreement that we had was for one photo and that I could attend some of the agent auditions in exchange for my helping him do some work in his office. I invite you to check out my web page and see all that he did with it. He went far and above what we agreed upon, and I still haven't fully paid him. On one particular agent audition, I was rushing so much, that I forgot my photo. I called Keith and when I met the agent, he took the blame for that so I wouldn't look as foolish as I felt. These are just a few of the examples of Keith's kindness and sense of fair play. I couldn't believe my luck in finding someone like Keith in this town. He is a truly nice man who gives his word and stands by it. I would recommend his agent auditions to anyone seeking representation. Instead of costly massive mail-outs, you can hand your photo to real person and actually read for the agent then and there. It only took two auditions before I was signed, (and it was the agent that I had forgotten my photo for). I'm sure if you were to speak to anyone who has worked with Keith, they would tell you the same thing I am saying. He's real, he cares and he does what he says he will. Again, feel free to check out my web page at http://www.lainet.com/casting/julia/htm and I think you'll agree he keeps a bargain. I hope what I've said will alleviate any doubts you may have as to Keith's intentions or character. Sincerely, Julia Rogers

Sincerely Yours,

Julia Rogers

Dear Caryn,

It is my pleasure to say "Thank You" to Keith Wolfe for providing a way for actors to publicize themselves over the internet at www.directcast.com.

The internet will someday be considered the most comprehensive information source in the world, with users making it their first stop in finding information. Producers, directors, and casting directors are finding that access to the internet allows them to keep dozens of headshots and resumes close at hand, without using any additional desk or file cabinet space. For actors, it is a way to have a picture and resume seen by every casting director with access to the internet.

Keith's internet site at www.directcast.com is attractively set up and easily navigable by any user. My page at that site has the photos, resume, and message set up in a way which is much more appealing than I could ever produce on paper. Keith's artistic methods of scrolling text and hypertext linkages make each page in his site a work of art. Each actor is presented in a way which highlights them individually, and the visitor to the site can see more detailed information about any actor listed.

The ability to market an actor on the internet provides chances for exposure to an extent actors never could imagine. As the saying goes, more exposure means more opportunities, and actors are only asking for opportunities.

Sincerely,

Randy Monte

In response to Natalie M.

It's interesting to see the wide diversity of opinion about Keith Wolfe. My own experience goes back 15 years. When I first came to Hollywood, I opened up a copy of Drama-Logue and saw all the ads of photographers, resume writers, etc., etc. -- and I knew that I had landed in a jungle where many of the denizens would be happy to have me for lunch if I
wasn't careful.

I needed a guide. Then I saw Keith's ad offering to help actors get agents. I went to see him and he did indeed connect me with a very good agent who represented me for some time.

Not only that but Mr. Wolfe cast me in my firstfeature film with a good speaking part (which was an unexpected bonus!). He later cast me in other things.

Since then I've had a number of dealings with Keith Wolfe for replacement agents (they don't always last, do they? My first went into real estate.) and for other things like casting, getting a SAG Card, resumes, photography, producing a video, etc. He has always kept his word and he has never failed to do what he said he would. I've tried to keep my end of the bargain and deal with him the same way.

Every now and again I run into someone bitching about Keith Wolfe not doing what they wanted. But when I question them, it has always turned out that they had unrealistic expectations which far exceeded what Mr. Wolfe had said he could or would do.

So my dealings and experiences with Keith Wolfe have been satisfying and profitable.

I don't agree with with the way Natalie M. characterizes Keith Wolfe or his operation. Perhaps she has some residual resentment because she was
stood up for their first meeting. But I do agree with her -- he does have strange hair.

Cordially,
Charles Watt
