Writing for television is its own ballgame and whether you want to write for television shows that are one hour dramas or write a television sitcom, there are very specific formula applied to successful TV writing endeavors. Sufficient character development and interesting story arcs may be irreplaceable, and stem from a writer's creativity, not copied out of a book, but some books can help you learn what questions you need to ask yourself to figure out who your characters are and streamline the most effective ways to tell their stories within a standard Tv show format. If television writing is what you want to do as your career, then learn how it's done from those who have been successful. Because as bad as some television shows are, there is most certainly a method to the madness when it comes to the shows that capture the hearts of TV viewers everywhere, and reading TV show scripts from shows like Seinfeld & Frasier might be some of the best education an aspiring TV comedy writer could have.
