Don't bark up the wrong tree! Francis sponsors a newsgroup where you can check to see if an animal in your area needs a home or let people know that you have an animal who needs to find a home. Any rescue or shelter- related postings are welcome here. To make sure you reach as many people as possible, please be sure to post on the USENET Dog Rescue group as well. Other discussion areas where you may want to post or look through rescue notices can be found in Francis's Doggie Discussion Area--please feel free to email with additions if you know of something not listed, and I will be happy to add the resource the next time I update that page.

Remember--if you don't see resources for your area listed (I only list rescue orgs that have significant info online), check the main rescue area for some national resources that will list contact info for all rescue resources by state.
