Canine Christmas
|
Thank
you for your interest in participating!
Getting a puppy
as a Christmas present is a very serious undertaking, and one which
must be well considered. The Canine Christmas site attempts to drive
home that message every holiday season, and hopes to inspire people
to consider adopting one of the many homeless doggies who are spending
Christmas lonely in their local shelters, just waiting for people to
love them. At this site there are articles to educate people, information
about things benefiting charities and rescue as
well as fun doggy ways to celebrate the season. Proceeds from things
sold through the Caryn.com
store throughout the year are distributed to benefit dog rescues
at a time when a lot of them are slammed by the demands of the season.
The Canine Christmas shelter donation program helps shelters all over
the US obtain badly needed items or cover expensive medical costs for
animals currently needing care. Shelter requests are accepted all year
round, and assistance can come in the form of a direct monetary donation
to your shelter or as assistance in obtaining a badly needed previously
used item from some other source. Every attempt will also be made to
meet emergency and immediate needs that occur in the months outside
of the Christmas season, and as more money is raised, we hope to eventually
be able to accomodate even more non-emergency requests throughout the
year.
How
can I participate in the Canine Christmas Site?
Any webmasters/representatives of dog rescues running Christmas themed
pages, events, sales or contests that have web pages describing what's
going on, should email me
the URLs so I can feature them with a link to
their event pages. Last year this site was viewed thousands of times
just in the space of one month, so it really is a great way to call
attention to the cause of rescue via something that is fun for just
about everyone.
Anyone who authors any personal web site that details a dog themed
Christmas experience of any kind should also send me the URL so I can
link it on the page.
Anyone who just wants to have fun...should just come check it out:
How
can my shelter participate in the Donation Program?
1) Email to francis@caryn.com
your shelter's information (web site,
address, phone) and some kind of verification of non-profit status (in
lieu of formal proof of such status, any monies paid will be paid
directly to a vet you work with to help cover any med care bills owed)
2) Also include in that email details on any emergency situations you
are currently facing at your shelter, a list of tangible items that
would MOST help alleviate some of the strain being put on your shelter,
and a list of any extra items your shelter has that could get donated
or
loaned to another shelter.
Because of limited funds to go out to everyone, how each shelter is
helped is chosen to maximize getting as much help to everyone as
possible, and sometimes, by arranging shelter-to-shelter swaps, or
outside item donations from a third party (where Canine Xmas just
covers shipping costs) more people are able to receive help.
How
can I help support The Canine Christmas Program?
#1 Shop at the Caryn.com
Store at http://www.caryn.com/store--not
just
to find special, original Christmas presents but also throughout the
year.
I know there's a lot of site's out there selling stuff. But the stuff
at this
store is handpicked for quality and originality, and focuses on eclectic
items and environmentally friendly, organic, holistic products for pets
and
people that are not so easy to find elsewhere. Webmasters of any sites
can
link to this store at this address, or if you have a pet site, you
can add a link
directly to the pet section of the store, Francis's
Store, A Nose for Bargains.
Banners for linking to the store can be found at this location.
Share the link with
all ofyour dog-loving friends, and that would be much
appreciated. Unlike many of the other sites selling doggie stuff, this
store
contains alternative
vegetarian & organic options in addition to the usual
standbys, so it is the perfect option for people who like to shop that
way
for their pets, and different from all of the other sites out there
who signed
up for the major pet affiliate programs and all carry the same stuff.
All proceeds made
from sales of items on in this site go to support the
Canine Christmas Program.
#2 You can also support the Canine Christmas program by helping to spread
the word of its existence! If you have a web site, you can help by running
the
Canine Christmas banner on your site starting on November 15 through
the
end of the year. Banners for linking are available from the following
page:
http://www.caryn.com/banners/xmasbanners.html
Please feel free
to also repost this message to any breed mailing lists
you are on, or any other dog-themed mailing list of any kind. The more
you pass it along, the more people will know about what's going on and
be able to participate in the fun and hopefully learn about and support
the wonderful efforts of the rescue organizations featured on this and
other pages of Francis's
DogHouse.
#3 Encourage all rescuers you are in contact with to send in their
donation requests
or any information they have on their web sites
that they would like linked at this site.
Thanks for everything you do on behalf of our 4 legged friends! Have
a
good one! May the season bring T*R*E*A*T*S for all.
Caryn (and Francis)
P.S.
If you are reading this as a repost, please remember to contact me via
email about your site, at francis@caryn.com.
If this is a repost, DO
NOT JUST HIT REPLY or you will email the person kind enough to post
this! Thanks!
