kisses and Valentine candies and what child could possibly
be disappointed?! Big kids, don't despair. Pinatas are also

Mending
Broken Hearts
You'll need: Red construction paper, Scissors,
Pencil, Large bowl
Use
construction paper to cut one heart for every 2 party guests.
Cut each heart in half in a unique way (one with a zig-zag,
one straight, and so on) and place all the "broken hearts" in
a large bowl. As each guest arrives, have them take a half-heart
from the bowl. After everyone is there, have each person holding
a heart find the person who has the matching half. The pair
that finds their partner first, wins! For kids, you can combine
this effort with even more fun by invoking the "Red
light, Greenlight" or "Freeze Tag" principle. Stop the
search when the adult yells, "Freeze" and then continue
when the adult says "Go". Anyone caught moving during
the freeze puts their heart back in the bowl, and sits out
until the next person is caught and their heart goes back in
the dish. Let kids who are out rechoose hearts from
the bowl as they become available on subsequent "freezes",
and go back into the game. This makes it harder for kids
to find a match and keeps the game going longer!
Musical
Hearts (just like Musical Chairs)
You'll need: Red construction paper, scissors,
tape, music
Tape large red Hearts to the floor, one
for each child. Every child stars the game standing on a
heart. Start the music and have the children walk around
the room. When the music stops, they need to stand on a heart
or they are out. Remove one heart after each musical segment.
