Well, I'd
take a new, better photo, but the plant doesn't look like
this anymore. It died off after a prolonged period of non-watering.
(oops). Can't find another one so easily, and one or two
branches are growing back, but slowly. so we'll see how this
one goes.
2002
When
I walked into the plant store and saw the red fuzzy things
hanging off of this plant, I just had to take it home. These
are with a doubt the best choice of flowers for the tactile
gardener, and what fun it is to see them emerge at first
looking like a few red hairs on the end of a leaf and morph
into these puffy explosions of red color. I have this plant
hanging right outside of my front door, and it is always
a favorite conversation starter for when new guests are over
and we are hanging out on the porch steps looking over the
rest of the garden and watching people walk by, which on
our street, since it is a walking street near the beach,
happens quite frequently, despite all the nasty (but mostly
true) rumors that no one walks anywhere in Los Angeles.
