Did
You Know?
Spanish
priests in Mexico grew Cosmos in their mission gardens. The evenly
placed petals led them to christen the flower "Kosmos," the
Greek word for harmony or ordered universe.

What
girl isn't going to LOVE having a tender Mexican perennial
that has flowers that smell like hot chocolate and vanilla
that are actually good for cutting? I thought this plant
had died but thankfully I was wrong, and it's back! Here
in So. CA, bloom cycles get all weird, and this normally
late summer bloomer is already spreading its petals here,
even though it's in a spot where it gets a decent amount
of shade. We also can just leave it in the ground because
it doesn't get that cold in the winter here regardless of
how we complain abou how FREEZING it is, but if you're growing
it in a place with a "real" winter, then you probably should
treat it as you would a dahlia, and dig it up and bring it
inside.
Most
other Cosmos are annuals, but all are supposedly vigorous
reseeders, so this is one kind of plant that is even easy
for beginners to have and keep in the yard!
Flowers
Alive!
Slow-release nutrients encourage prolific bloom without excess foliage growth.
Research shows: 81% more geranium and 66% more zinnia flowers! Selected nutrients
help annuals produce spectacular color all season long. Great for rejuvenating
perennials, too! 3 lb bag.
