Malope-Mallow

2002

This plant was a late addition to our garden, added when our neighbor Paul came by and said he had a few extra plants, and by the way, did we want some? The tags on this plant did not do it justice in terms of the soft look of the flowers, nor did it provide a true sense of the size this plant can get to if placed in an extra sunny location. I had originally planted 2 of these plants in a med-large trashcan we have, thinking that it would look empty with just one little plant in there, but in retrospect, no way could two of those plants have been in there together. Even just the one shot up and spread out, with loads of branches filled with just tons of those beautiful purple flowers. One of the other Malope plants he gave us has white flowers, and even though that plant did not get even close to as big as the pruple one did, it still looks nice in its spot, providing a nice contrast to the nearby Kangaroo Paw and Penstemon...
