June 2004

I love that this plant is also referred to as a Crane Lily, because there is something so graceful about the flowers. We have cut back our plant substantially, but it's still 6 ft plus tall, less in the circumferance and currently hosting a cherry tomato vine that volunteered itself to grow and has literally grown all over this Bird of Paradise. I've never had any tomato go quite that crazy, and as they seem to be coexisting peacefully, I'll just let them be.

2002

This already was here when we got here. We've let it go a bit wild, and it's definitely in need of some trimming, because the rate at which flowers are coming up is too slow compared to what is used to be. But the flowers that do come up are lovely as cuttings, and last for quite a long time in a vase, so this is a really great plant to have around.
