Breathe moist air by taking a hot shower, or use a steam vaporizer with a little bit of peppermint oil to open your nasal passages. Inhale a few times deeply. Alternating hot and cold compresses can also help. You can also use an Aruvedic solution--a Neti-Pot (what my husband swears by to relieve his sinus woes), and add things like Neti-Wash Plus, Grapefruit seed Extract (a natural antibiotic & disinfectant) or Colloidal silver, to help deal with any nasal infections that may be present. To use a neti-pot, fill with warm, slightly salted water and over a sink or bathtub, insert spout of pot into one nostril. Adjust the position of the head and pot so water can flow out of the other nostril. (If the water does not flow, that's OK too, as this will help deal with the blockage! The technique is not as hard or uncomfortable as you may think, athough it does take some getting used to and does taste like a salt gargle.
Herbal Sinus Headache Pillows 1/2 part flax seeds 1 part crushed spearmint leaf 1 part crushed peppermint leaf 1 part whole lavender buds 1 part eucalyptus leaf 1 part rosemary leaf Mix everything. Press your sinuses just inside the apples of your cheeks firmly with your fingertips --hard enough to feel the pressure. Start on either side of your nose and work your fingers across your cheeks, up to your temples, up to the top & sides of your head (press harder here or you won't feel it) across your eyebrows, then back down under your eyes to your nose.
